How to Make Your Newsletter Sell

Posted by: Susan    in Business Ideas

Newsletters and opt-in email go together like bread and well almost anything. However, all too often people mistake the purpose of their newsletter and lose all or part of this valuable tool’s power. The newsletter is a sales tool but it is one that must be handled delicately to work. The law requires newsletters be sent on an opt-in basis, that means the person must sign up for the newsletter. The law also requires that an opt-out link be clearly displayed so that the individual can easily leave the list and quit receiving the newsletter.

Now that seems fair, it reduces spam to the consumer and leaves the list only with people who want to receive the mails. However, this means that the marketer and business must work to ensure the emails all hold value for the customer and give those reasons to remain on the list. A newsletter with no subscribers is not going to do much good for the business.  Likewise, a newsletter where everyone opts out before the subscriber sees more than one or two issues, obviously is not doing its job right.

Most successful marketers can tell you chapter and verse what to do to make a newsletter sticky and to make the consumer feel like it has value to them. Again, it’s easy in theory but in practice, it takes a delicate hand. Let’s take a real business example to make the concept clearer.

Joe Blow sells trendy designer diaper bags, cute clothes, and cool baby clothes and Joe Blow has a mailing list with a bi-weekly newsletter. Now if Joe were doing it wrong, he would send out this newsletter with nothing but advertisements for new items in his store. Why might that be doing it wrong? Because Joe Blow’s email list would be receiving nothing they could not get by dropping by his store or by shopping anywhere else.

Let’s change it up a little and say Joe Blow sends out his newsletter with hints for the most durable diaper bags and how to use a designer diaper bag as a beach tote after the baby is out of diapers. The next issue maybe Joe’s newsletter features articles on how to purchase cool baby clothes that last for more than a season, what if Joe Blow offered cute clothes discounts available only to his newsletter subscribers?

If you guessed that Joe was harnessing the sales power of his newsletter, you would be right. His subscribers are obviously interested in what Joe has for sale, and belonging to his newsletter earns them special discounts no one else gets and hints and tips on products they like and they find interesting. In other words, reading the newsletter is cool and profits them.

The longer the average consumer stays with the newsletter the higher the chances are they will buy again or for the first time. In other words, Joe’s newsletter is doing the job it was made for, to increase his bottom line while engaging his older and new customers giving them reasons to return month after month.

Starting Your Business

Posted by: Susan    in Business Ideas

The fact is, that pretty much everyone in this country and places around the world dream about having their own business and being their own boss and telling the people that are in charge of their lives to take a hike. No one likes to be told what to do and when to do it, it is human nature. That goes for people in every walk and station in life. People looking to get a Green Card through immigration to the United States of America or trying to Renew a Green Card as well as residents living here are all drawn by the pull of being able to do what they want, when they want. They want to be in control of their future and their destinies.

That is fairly easy to do in today’s world and the easiest way to do it is to make sure that you set up and maintain a strong Internet presence that is appealing and easy for your prospective customers to navigate. Having a virtual world will save you a ton of operating expenses which will allow you to get more profits and thus keep a competitive edge over your competition. An online business can easily be run from the comfort of your home or apartment which means that you can deduct a portion of your operating expenses in utilities etc off of your taxes which will further lower your costs and increase your profits.

If you are one of the many folks involved in immigration in an attempt to make it to this country then you know how harrowing that experience can be. Think about the issues involved in obtaining your Green Card or working to Renew Green Card Status. Your time will be limited so if you find a web based business that can give you what you need quickly and easily you will likely shop there for your needs and tell your friends about it. That will increase that companies profit and lower operating expenses for them by giving them greater profits.

When that same person that is looking for immigration and Green Card or attempting to Renew Green Card status runs across a website that is slow and hard to navigate the absolute opposite effect is generated and the potential for that site to regain the trust of that potential customer in the future is virtually non existent.

This is a prime example of how making sure that you look at your web presence through the eyes of potential customers can reap you tons of rewards or a wealth of problems. As we know the rewards would be profits and the problems could go as far as spelling the demise of your business in an extreme case.

No one rule fits all in this scenario but keeping an open mind like the person going through immigration in an attempt for a Green Card or looking to Renew a Green Card can go a long way towards making your endeavor a huge success from the beginning.

Minimizing Costs with an Online Business

Posted by: Susan    in Website Monetization

An online business allows for people to save money.  It is the best reason to go online if you are having difficulty with your finances but want to keep the current customers that you do have and the doors to the business open.  Many of the ways that costs can be minimized include not needing a physical location, employees, cheaper advertising, and much more.

A web business is the cheapest way to go when you want to own your own business.  The great thing about the web is that you don’t have to worry about your local economy so much or the need for a product.  For example, if you want to sell artificial Christmas trees then your local economy is not your best bet.  This is because people buy prelit Christmas trees once and then they can reuse them every year.  That means that your customer base dwindles and the chances of selling additional lighted palm trees minimizes.  When you sell your product online you don’t have to worry about targeting everyone in your local economy.  You can target the local community and people around the world.

One of the biggest ways that you save money with an online business is on operating costs.  A physical location requires you to pay for a space to rent, utilities to keep things running, and much more.  An online business can be run from the comfort of your own home.  You already have the costs of your home so you won’t acquire any additional expenses.  The great thing about an online business at your home is that your home expenses actually get smaller because you can write off the space you use and a portion of your utility expenses every year that you file your taxes.

A brick and mortar business requires that you have employees.  You must have a staff to keep the place running.  If you don’t have employees then you will never have time for yourself and get burned out too quickly.  This can be a problem. When you have an online business you don’t need employees and the entire operations of the company can be run directly from your computer.  This is very convenient for you and easy to manage.  There isn’t a payroll you have to manage and it means that you will have higher revenues without having to pay someone out for their time.

A brick and mortar company is also very expensive to advertise for a local city or community.  The expenses may include advertising through commercials, newspaper advertisements, and other methods.  When you have an online business the expenses are next to nothing.  This is because you can post articles, bookmark, and practice other techniques for advertising that are free.  If you have the time to do these techniques then you don’t have to pay a dime for advertising.  If you do decide to pay the costs are still extremely lower than traditional methods of advertising.

An online business is very low costs in comparison to a brick and mortar company.  Many of the ways you can save money include through advertising costs, not hiring employees, and not having to maintain a physical location and pay for the operating costs.

Ways to Make Additional Money Online

Posted by: Susan    in Website Monetization

There are many ways that you can make additional money online.  This means that you can make a supplemental income or a full time income.  Many of the ways to make additional money for your online business include using Google and affiliate marketing.  These two methods alone can bring in a lot of money.

The best thing that a company can do when they have a presence on the web is to find ways to make additional money rather than just selling their products and services.  Why rely on the company itself.  A good business owner will find every way possible they can to bring in additional revenues with their site.  When you have a website the best thing you can do is get the most out of it.  Don’t rely on the products and services you sell because they may not be needed as much as you think.

AdWords is a form of advertising that will allow you to create a banner ad for your company.  You can design the banner ad and select the text for it to say.  You can also associate the keywords for the ad that will bring your advertisement up.  What happens is when a user types in Christmas tree and you are a company that sells Christmas trees then your ad will be displayed on other business web pages that sell artificial Christmas trees.  The banner will be displayed randomly throughout the web on pages that are relevant to the keywords that you specify.  The use of AdWords is a form of advertising that you have to pay for.  This is a pay per click advertising.  You might think that it sounds odd that you will make money but you will because you will drive more traffic to your site which will result in more sales.

Google offers many ways that you can make money too.  You can add a Google search bar to your website and every time that a user types in a search for something from your website Google search bar you can make a commission.  If you use Google advertisements on your site then every time that users click on the advertisements listed to the site or throughout the site then you will make some change for every click.

Another way you can make a supplemental income is by becoming an affiliate for other site owners.  You might have heard about affiliate advertising and making money.  The smartest way to do this is to build a site that offers products that are similar to what you offer.  If a shopper doesn’t find what they are looking for on your website then they can click on the links to other businesses from your site.  If the customer should make a purchase on the affiliate site and be sent from you then you will make a commission on the sales.

There are many ways that you can make money online besides just relying on the revenues of the products and services that you offer.  These ways include methods through Google and even affiliate advertising.
